Analysis on improving UI/UX for CMB through ideating and prototyping new features
Extensive market analysis revealed three key growth opportunities for Unilever’s ice cream business in India: boosting out-of-home consumption, strengthening emotional brand connections, and tapping into regional flavor preferences. To address these, three phased campaigns were developed—Slow Churn Experience (urban sampling and storytelling), Scoop & Score (sports-driven engagement), and Flavor Fusion (regional flavor collaborations). Backed by a $10M budget and agile rollout strategy, these efforts aim to grow out-of-home sales by 1.7x over five years while reinforcing long-term brand loyalty.
Based on user interviews and market analysis, the key issue faced by several CMB users came to light - struggle to initiate and sustain meaningful conversations with their matches, leading to high ghosting rates and disengagement. We identified the root cause to be the lack of sufficient material for proper conversations and hence came up with Bagel Bites; a feature which allows users to post Instagram-Esque stories and thereby reveal weekly tidbits on their lives. This feature is predicted to enhance authenticity and increase engagement and won the People’s Choice Award at the NTU Product Club CMB Hackathon.
